Asbestos Inspections
Asbestos is contained in many building materials used in both residential and commercial buildings. It is not necessarily hazardous to our health if a building has one of these products. A concern arises when the asbestos containing material (ACM) is disturbed or deteriorates to the degree that fibers are released into the air. To identify potential risk, an asbestos inspection can be done, or if a specific material is suspected, an asbestos test can be done.

Is asbestos a health hazard?
Potentially. If products containing asbestos are disturbed, tiny asbestos fibers are released into the air. Over time, these fibers can accumulate and cause serious health problems.
When do I need an asbestos inspection report?
Asbestos inspection reports are often required if you are pulling a building permit for a renovation project. Ask your local building inspector to be sure. If you are not pulling a permit, you may still desire asbestos testing of a particular building material of concern you expect to disturb. Donaldson Environmental is licensed to do either.
I’m tearing down a building. Do I need an asbestos inspection report?
Yes. Asbestos inspection reports are required for demolition projects.
I’m a facilities manager. Do I need to test all the suspected asbestos containing materials in my facility?
No. Because testing every single one of them could be very costly, you have the option to visually assess those materials as if they did contain asbestos and give each of them a rating according to their physical condition. As long as the minimum required rating is maintained for each material, no further action is required. This will allow you to only test when actually disturbing the materials with renovation activity. Donaldson Environmental is licensed to do this type of evaluation.
